Sergeant Major
I used to use a laptop, Toshiba. But too slow for DFX, bought it 4 years ago.

I wood just make sure you got enough video on you video thingy, and

I saw they just come out with a quad processor in a laptop. I wood if

I was going back to a laptop, get the quad and mega video, and jam some

ram in it. I know I do not know alot about it, but that is what I did when

I upgraded to my desktop.

That's my penny. I would also get 17" or bigger widescreen, very vercitile.

Sergeant
Thank for your penny's worth Cheese. All the ones I'm looking at have 2.66 cpu duel core , huge hard drives ( 250 + ) , 4 gb memory, 512 or above video memory. I have a 15 inch one now and it's BIG so I might go with a smaller one this time. I dont game on my current one because it's to slow 1.8 cpu.

just remember HOT, power soaking internals when gaming.....play on little battery life, basically on board limits in Video card so in two years the new games you may want to check out , noway...........

so if you need a lap top and want to get one to play a few cool game, ok
but if your getting one for gaming, my guess 2 years it will be passed down to somene else to make room for your new hot laptop....

Sergeant
Dan , Thanks for the info. I do understand the heat issue with laptops I plan to get a cooling pad for it. I had a heat issue with my desktop computer but fixed that. The video cards I'm looking at have double the memory( 1 gb) of my desktop computer(512mb) so I'm not sure that will be an issue. But I will take any and all input on this issue as it's not a small purchase for me.

General
There are some GAMING Laptops out there ......... Here is one from Dell ...... and the Graphics card is upgradable.

http://gaming-laptop.co.uk/dell/dell-xps-m1730

although a bit pricey (The price of this is in UK Sterling ..... and remember that we like to pay over the top for our shopping over here ...... NOT) ....... However, you may get a deal somewhere on the Internet ......

See if you can find a coupon/Voucher code somewhere ..... there are loads of sites that have these codes .....

Before I buy anything on the Internet ..... I always do a search for a coupon code .... and generally end up saving 10 - 15%.
