Post subject: Two computers on a network gaming problem?  PostPosted: Jun 05, 2006 - 08:41 AM

I was working on setting up a computer as a "host only" on my network, with my main computer free to do work or game on.
The problem starts.
If I get the "Host" computer working so that it accesses NovaWorld and is able to login and serve, my main computer is unable to access NovaWorld.
If I get my main computer to access NovaWorld, my "Host" computer losses the ability to access NovaWorld.
I figure it is a problem with my routers port forwarding setup.
Any help will be appreciated.

Master Sergeant
Do you have 2 different games with two different serialnumbers?
It is not possible to play with the same game serialnumbers, then you have to buy a new game.
Maybe this is the problem.

When you play DFX ...... You have to log into Nova .....

So If you have the same game and Serial No installed on both ...... Nova will only let one in ............... whichever logs on first ...... When the other try's to log on ....... Nova says that you cant because you are already logged on ...... If that makes sense.

Are you hosting as a dedicated ...... If not ......... Do so ......... As Your body isnt in there (I dont know if this makes any difference, but worth a try).

The only solution ...... is to have 2 games ...... You can also try the Nova forums, I know there are many a thread on this (Look at JO and DFX).

I have two separate copies of DFX, not just one installed on both.
I put my "Host" computer as serve only.
On my other machine, when I click on multiplayer, it tries to connect to NovaWorld but doesn't make it to the log in screen. It usually times out.

I seem to remember that you need to edit the game.cfg on each computer.

Look for the port numbers in there ........

and use 32768 for the min and max on the hosting computer and 32769 for the min and max on the other.

Save you current game.cfg first.

You only need to port forward to the hosting computer.

Colonel
Thoran I have the same issue.....not sure if you remember My coming up with the same thing a few weeks ago after I got the new puter. Seems with 2 discs, 2 downloads (independent) and 2 codes I still dont make it, dont matter I get booted as loggin second one. Seems to me its a router thing with both going in and out to NovaWorld from one Router.
CALLY?
thanks

Hi Thoran,

Stops at the log-in screen huh? Hmmmmm... Could it be that NovaWorld locks you out because you are logging in as the same person/player on both computers? Even with the different disks and serial numbers, NovaWorld will only track you as one player. If I log into Nova World as Stormbird + PW on one computer (and don't log off), then try to log in on another computer simultaneously to play, I think Nova will refuse the log-in on the second one as it believes I'm already playing. Try changing your player name & PW on your hosting computer and see what happens.

Second computer doesn't even make it to the Log-In screen, it stops at the connecting to NovaWorld screen.
I created a second NovaWorld account connected two the second disk and code.
