Post subject: TheRev's in the Hospital (Man Down)  PostPosted: Jan 04, 2009 - 05:42 AM

Hey Everyone!

Hope you all had a very happy New Years celebration. I had a decent New Years Eve. However, I was experiencing some chest pains all day and in to the night as well as the day before. They were becoming more frequent and more intense as the day went on. So, my plan was to go to the emergency room on New Years Day to get checked out. I didn't want to stand in line behind all the traffic accident victims on New Years Eve.

Anyway, on New Years Day the chest pain woke me up at around 6AM and would not go away this time. My Dad left me with a "triple threat" (Heart Disease, Stroke, and Colon Cancer) so I didn't want to mess around. I called 911 and they sent a rescue squad to my house.

Since then I've been in the hospital and had a heart Cath done. They found 100% blockage in one artery and put a stent in there and they found 25-50% blockage in some other ones. So, I'll be on some medications for all of it.

I just thank God that I called 911 right away! My cousin (younger than I) just died from a heart attack with the same exact symptoms before Christmas because he waited too long to make the call. Vern and I just ask for your prayers at this time as we enter into my recovery and especially for me as I "re-train" myself to live healthy.

God Bless you all and I'm glad to still be with you today!

1st Lieutenant
First of all, Steve, glad to hear you're doing ok. Having to take medication for anything sucks but it beats the alternative. You take care of yourself there, partner, and get back to 100% as soon as you can. You, Vernie and the kids will be in the thoughts and prayers of my family, and your extended family, Raptor Pack. God Bless, bud.

Wow Steve, that was a close call. On reading the news, the scripture, "Let not your Heart be troubled" came to mind. Now I know it's about anxiety etc but it may well be a statement of faith brother, eg. "Heart...you will not be troubled by blockages or anxiety, because I believe in Jesus and he said I am not to let you be troubled". Take care...praying for you and family.

General
I am sorry to hear about your condition but its Good to hear that you are still with us .... although it was probably a 'frightening' experience, was also a blessing in disguise ... as the underlying problems have come to light and subsequently can be resolved without further stress.

All the best on the retraining ... I think Vern will be the 'Bootcamp' Sergeant for that ... so STAND BY ..... lol

Command Sergeant Major
Right lads and lasses,
Lesson learnt. YOU GET CHEST PAIN YOU CALL THE AMBULANCE AS A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY. I am more tham happy to give you a full work up including a 12 lead EKG and a shed load of drugs than have you sitting at home in pain. I can rush you in or take you in slow. The longer you leave it the worse it can get.
Rev mate I'm just glad it worked out fine for you.
Peace all,
Gooseman the paramedic
