I need an easy rec. for chilly. Needs to be a bit spicy.
Will be seving 10 people.
On stove top.
Will be shopping for stuff at 9am.
Please reply asap.

While you wait for Cheeseball to reply, I thought I'd send you my own chilly recipe:

Chilly

- 2 lbs of lean hamburger
- 2 cans, 540 ml, dark red kidney beans
- 1 can, 156 ml, tomato paste
- 1 can, 780 ml, diced or stewed tomatoes
- 1 large white onion, diced
- 1 green medium sweet pepper, diced
- 1 red medium sweet pepper, diced
- 3 oz of chopped hot banana peppers
- 1 tablespoon of dry red crushed chili peppers
- 1 cup, or small can of mushroom bit/slices/stems
- pepper and salt to taste

1) Mix meat with diced sweet peppers and onion and fry meat until pink only
2) When the meat is done, mix the meat with the beans, tomato paste, diced/stewed tomatoes, chopped hot banana peppers and mushroom bits
3) Let it simmer for about 2 - 3 hours; an overnight sit will enhance the flavour the next day
4) If you want it spicier/hotter, just add crushed red peppers and let your tongue be your guide
5) Enjoy a green garden salad with the chilly, garlic bread and Chianti or Spanish red wine
6) If you go overboard on the crushed red peppers, use ice cream for dessert.

I enjoy this recipe every year during the Super Bowl; good luck and enjoy.

Sergeant Major
Ingredients

* 1 lb ground venison or ground beef or ground turkey
* 2 onions, diced
* 1 green pepper, diced
* 1 tablespoon jalapeno, finely chopped
* 1 (14 ounce) can Mexican-style tomatoes (like Rotel)
* 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
* 2 tablespoons cumin
* 2 tablespoons chili powder
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon paprika (smoked if you can find it)
* 1 (14 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
* 1 (14 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
* 1 cup water

Toppings

* sour cream
* cheddar cheese
* green onion

Directions

1.

Cook ground meat with onions and peppers in dutch oven.

Drain excess grease and add tomatoes, seasonings, and water, bring to a boil.

Add beans, cover and simmer 1-2 hours.

Serve with toppings.

Sergeant Major
AWARD WINNING CHILI

1 lb. lean ground beef
1 lb. hot Italian sausage
1 lg. or 2 sm. cans whole peeled tomatoes, undrained
1 sm. can tomato paste (Italian style not plain)
2 pkgs. chili seasoning (one hot, one reg.)
1 lg. Spanish onion, or 2-3 sm. ones, chopped coarse
1 med. green pepper, chopped coarse
1 med. red pepper, chopped coarse
2-3 sm. Jalapeno peppers, sliced
2 cans red kidney beans, undrained (1 dark, 1 light red)
A dash or two of crushed red pepper

Brown ground beef and sausage together in a large pan, drain fat. Add remaining ingredients and cook covered over medium heat for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally and mashing up tomatoes with spoon. Let simmer uncovered over low heat for 1-2 hours more, stirring occasionally. Serve with fresh Italian bread and your favorite cold beverage.



OR



CHILI (AWARD WINNING)

5 lbs. ground beef
1 lg. onion
1 pod of garlic
2 c. water
1 tsp. celery salt
1/2 tbsp. cumin
2 tbsp. oregano
1 whole bottle chili powder (2 oz. or 4 oz.)
1 can tomato soup
1 (6 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 tsp. turmeric
4 tbsp. vinegar
3 tbsp. sugar
1 c. picante sauce
1 tsp. seasoning salt
1 pkg. chili mix (Williams)
2 cans beans (optional)

Brown first three ingredients and drain. Then add water, simmer 30 minutes and add other ingredients. Rinse soup and sauce cans with water and add water. Chili mix is last ingredient. Cook 4-5 hours stirring occasionally. (Best prepared one day early and reheated).


aND YES dOC, I have tried all three of these. And thank you Sailor for
your recipe, I will try that one.

I have made this one.
So far so good. Smells great still cooking.
Total cost was $28.00 each pot.
