Barracks - Veterans Day

Post subject: Veterans Day
Another year has passed and I am blessed to be here, enjoying my freedoms bestowed upon me and my brothers and sisters who have valiantly gone before me and with me into battle to keep those freedoms alive. This week has been a whirlwind of activity. Sunday, we veterans were recognized by the county with a musical tribute and guest speakers. Today, I attended ceremonies at our local High school and then the elementary school. WOW, what an incredible turnout at both events. We have some of the most patriotic young people and mentors around!
I am the only veteran at my place of employment and ALWAYS take off for Veterans Day (since it is not a paid holiday). I support our folks who go out of their way to make the day special for our active duty and veteran personnel. Tomorrow night, our VFW post members will be escorted onto the football field at the High School at pre-game to be recognized and then, our Post Commander will participate in the coin toss.
Saturday, I'll be leading off the town's Veterans Parade as a member of the Color Guard (I carry Ol' Glory).
Hope your Veterans Day is met with the same kind of enthusiasm.
