Yo , bud, my son is in the process of joining up , my personel advice is , get fit , it dont matter how fit you think you are , you will never be by the military standard , start running A LOT . Work your way up to a couple of miles . If your in collage they will pay you for it IF you go in as grunt , my son is in collage and they gave him the choice of either going in as an OFFICER or as a GRUNT , now bear this in mind when you make a choice, 1- AS AN OFFICER YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR COLLAGE FEES PAYED FOR AND YOU GET NO ANUAL BONUS .

The second choice is what he is doing as he will get hands on experiance , collage payed and will work up to office status.

When joining up ask to see what oppertunities are avaliable for you , my son is doing I.T at collage so he is looking at that field of experiance in the guard.

Sit down and write questions you want to ask, that way youll have them for him/her to answer, remeber this though , there will allway's be a question youll forget ask , lol .

Its a long process to get in , according to his recruiter they have cut back on entry to 1 candidate a month per recruiter, secruity background checks for you and your parents are a must and you must have atleast 4 referances by someone that is NOT FAMILY related and must have known you for a min of 5 yrs, then the medical and all of the other stuff, then the commitment 12 weeks of basic , 1 day a week tng , 2 weekends a month and 2 weeks combat camp a year .

Once your in , youll have that special bond with your fellow " BROTHERS", hope this helps you buddy , good luck , and make every one proude of yer.
